Ribocell Modeling

چکیده
Extended Abstract A minimal living cell, or protocell, is a minimal supra molecular self-bounded structure that can exhibit self-maintenance, selfreproduction and evolvability (Luisi 2003). Some years ago, Szostak and colleagues proposed a minimal cell prototype called Ribocell: ribozymes based cell (Szostak et al. 2001) that, in principle, can exhibit all these three properties. This model cell consists in a self-replicating minimum genome coupled with a self-reproducing lipid vesicular container. The genome is composed by two hypothetical ribozymes: RLip able to catalyze the conversion of molecular precursors into membrane lipids and RPol able to duplicate RNA strands. Therefore, in an environment rich of both lipid precursors and activated nucleotides the Ribocell can self-reproduce if both processes: the genome self-replication and the membrane reproduction (growth and division), are somehow synchronized. In a recent work (Mavelli et al in press) we have presented and discussed a detailed and as realistic as possible kinetic mechanism for the Ribocell based on a previously published in silico model of self-replicating vesicles (Mavelli and Ruiz-Mirazo 2007):

Procedural Modeling as an Analytical Tool for 3D Survey in Urban Design Assessment
This paper examines procedural modeling as a tool for 3D modeling creation. Procedural modeling historically has been used for 3D visualization of natural features, but with the release of the software CityEngine in 2008, the technology can easily be adopted also in problem domains dealing with urban environments. Then, we will examine and compare two types of modeling, traditional and proc...
متن کاملModeling and Non-modeling Genre-based Approach to Writing Argument-led Introduction Paragraphs: A Case of English Students in Iran
Despite the crucial role of introductory sections in argumentative academic writing, the effects of genre- based approaches to writing introductory paragraphs have not been much explored yet. The present study aimed to investigate whether the provision of genre knowledge through modeling and non-modeling could enhance learners’ ability in writing introductory paragraphs of argumentative essays....
متن کاملNumerical modeling of economic uncertainty
Representation and modeling of economic uncertainty is addressed by different modeling methods, namely stochastic variables and probabilities, interval analysis, and fuzzy numbers, in particular triple estimates. Fo-cusing on discounted cash flow analysis numerical results are presented, comparisons are made between alter-native modeling methods, and characteristics of the methods are discussed.
متن کاملModeling in Early Stages of Technology Development: Is an Iterative Approach Needed?; Comment on “Problems and Promises of Health Technologies: The Role of Early Health Economic Modeling”
A recent paper by Grutters et al makes the case for early health economic modeling in the development of health technologies. A number of examples of the value of early modeling are given, with analyses being performed at different stages in the development of several non-drug health technologies. This commentary acknowledges the contribution of the paper by Grutters et...
متن کاملFuzzy relations, Possibility theory, Measures of uncertainty, Mathematical modeling.
A central aim of educational research in the area of mathematical modeling and applications is to recognize the attainment level of students at defined states of the modeling process. In this paper, we introduce principles of fuzzy sets theory and possibility theory to describe the process of mathematical modeling in the classroom. The main stages of the modeling process are represented as fuzz...
